I have a user of my software who was generated as a runtime while I was using OI3.7. I have now applied 3.7.2 to my system. Do I also need to apply it to his system, or will RDK take care of the necessary upgrading the next time I send the user an upgrade?
Thanks

You're going to have to upgrade his system. The RDK is fine for handing system to system changes, and in theory, should be able to move all the associated EXE and DLLs, assuming they are all registered in the repository. What it will not do is upgrade the engine, since this isn't a simple copy, but requires pulling out the proper serial number and user count. For the obvious reasons, Revelation would prefer to keep that programming tool embedded into the upgrade. Can't see an easy way around this one unless you can somehow bundle into RTI's upgrade.

Glenn,
I'd also suggest that you refer to the Licensing & Deployment section of our website. In particular, you'll find a document titled "Important Information about OpenInsight 3.7.2+ and the Runtime License". You'll probably find the answers that you are looking for.

Susan, thanks for your response. My question tho, was technically oriented, not legally oriented. It is, again, how, staying within the bounds of the license agreement for runtimes, do I provide the 3.7.2 and future upgrades to a customer who was installed under OI 3.7 and has been receiving from me regular updates generated thru RDK? This customer is on a runtime, non networked system.
Secondly, I am getting ready to install two new customers. Could you clarify for me the procedures I need to follow to get OENGINEs? What do I do, with who, and what will they do, and what will I then do to get the customer installed correctly? This would be a big help. Thanks glenn
