I have a client running a Canon Imageclass D600 Multifunction printer which is "comandeering" the LPT1 port.
If I try to print to it (from within AREV) or even from the DOS prompt
I get a "another application has control of the Port" message or a
"error writing device LPT1" message.
Has anyone encountered this problem and devised a work around ?
Any help appreciated.

Tony,
This sounds very similar to the problem you posted three years ago here regarding Windows Only printers. Capt'n Kirk posted a link to a product that is supposed to allow DOS apps to use these types of printers.
Try going into the printer properties and un-check the "Spool MS-DOS printjobs".

Three years ago! Wow you have quite a memory!

Thanks for the Heads Up on my past problems - which unfortunately still exist. I've just had to tell clients that "thats the way it is - call me BEFORE you go and buy a new printer" - which many forget!
I checked out the website linked to that post and it offers a "Single User" version @ 200 Euros=Au$357 …per site - ouch!.
It'd be cheaper to buy a new printer - which I'm gonna advise they do!
Thanks to all for your advice/assistance.
