Hi,
Trying to install UD 4.7 on Window server 2019 but it didn't seem to install as the service did not appear on the list of services, when I tried to install manually (LH47NUL.EXE Install) got the message that service is already created but when trying to start gets an error number 5 (see below). Does anyone know what error number 5 is?
Any help much appreciated.

Bill

Hi, Bill. I believe it's telling you you don't have permissions to start the service. If you're doing this manually from a DOS cmd prompt, you need to right-click on the DOS cmd prompt icon and choose "Run as Administrator" so that you've got an "administrator" CMD prompt. Give that a try and see if it works to register (and then start) the service?

Thanks for that I will give it a try.

Hi Bryan,
The service is running and appears in the Task manager but is not appearing in the services list in services, msc, do you have any idea how to resolve this?

Hi, Bill. No, I've never seen or heard of this before - are you sure the UD is running, as a service?
Have you restarted the server? Does the UD service restart as well? Does it show up in the 'services' list then?
- Bryan Shumsky
Hi Bryan,
Yes the server was restarted and the UD service ran but still did not appear on the list of services. It is running as users are able to access data and checklhport confirmed the UD was running. The clients IT are afraid that if it does not appear on the services list then they could find themselves in a position where if they needed to restart the UD, they they would have to reboot the server which is used by other applications.
Just this morning I installed the UD onto a new windows 2019 server for a different client with no issues, it appeared on the services list.
I have never seen anything like this previously.
Thanks!
Bill
Hi, Bill. No, neither have I, I'm afraid.
While it's not a solution, the IT people can (from a DOS CMD prompt, running as "administrator") use the command:
LH47SRVC STOP
to stop the server, and then
LH47SRVC START
to restart it.
In fact, I would suggest that you issue - again, from a DOS CMD prompt that you have right-clicked and chosen "Run as Administrator" from -
LHSRVC STOP
LHSRVC INSTALL
LHSRVC START
Just to see if that installs the service entry. I think that's what you did originally, but maybe second time's the charm?
Perhaps there's some kind of permissions issue that's stopping the creation of the service entry? That's the only thing I can think of, sorry…
