A user is encountering a problem logging into OI getting an FS231 error. OI 3.5 runtime running on an XP Client conntected to an NT 4.0 server. Single user, no Win 2000 Service. I did a search for FS231 and suggested a few things, none of which has been successful - made sure the "Start In" folder is set to the OI main folder; checked for revparam files (there are none); checked for read-write permissions and read-only files (all seems OK; checked for missing revmedia or other files (don't seem to be any).
Did an LH2.log - results appear below.
I would greatly appreciate any other suggestions.
Specifics follow.

Mark,
That log message could mean the REVMEDIA.LK file's gone missing. But I guess you'd discovered that already if that was the case.

Oystein,
Does this mean that any revmedia.lk file is missing or specifically the one in the main openinsight folder?
Mark,
I'm just referring what others have said.
What happened was I read your posting and thought the log message looked familiar. Not like I ever got it myself but like I thought I saw it in a posting not too long ago. So I did a search for the whole phrase
"SN REVMEDIA ERROR:231 FILE:1 GROUP:0"
and found a posting where DSig said he got that message in his log. To what Pat replied:
"This error is returned when the file REVMEDIA.LK does not exist in the current working (or default) directory that OpenEngine is invoked with. Does REVMEDIA.LK really exist in the current working directory? If so, is there some kind of permission problem?"

Oystein,
Thanks for your input. Yes, revmedia.lk does exist in the default OI directory, and I did have them check the permissions. I'll ask them to check again, but I doubt the results will be different. I think I'm stuck on this one!
How about the short cut being used to launch OI, what directory is specified there as the working directory?
Also, could this be some kind of long versus short path name problem?
Pat
Pat,
We checked the shortcut, and the start-in path is set correctly to the oinsight folder - G:\bgmapwin\oinsight There are no long filenames involved. Thanks for the suggestion though.
Mark,
Can you actually open the REVMEDIA.LK file in that directory with an editor?Pat
