Just like to put a bit shout out of thanks to all the guys at Revelation USA / UK for assisting with the configuration issues recently being experienced at a number of client sites.
The Revparam configuration linked to the Registry settings, and the storing of the application on the database server was initially counter intuitive, but once explained, established and proven, has a very logical outcome for both system updates to one location (on multiple application server farms) as well as keeping within the OI licences. With potential performance improvements to boot.
Some very steep learning curves, and we are now feeling more confident that OI9 and the UD will work as expected, and even exceeding previous expectations.
Cheers
Colin
Very many thanks Colin and thank you to Troy and your clients for their patience and understanding whilst we worked through the issues. We had people on standby on Tuesday, with one poor sole ready to journey across the country and to go onsite if needed, but thankfully that was not the case and all was well on crunch day.
Before replying online, I wanted to wait a few days to ensure that everything was settled and running as it should be. It is now Friday morning and I believe that everything continues to run fine and I understand that the performance of the system has actually improved since the reconfiguration of the systems across the servers. As planned, I will check in with Troy again today but I hope and trust that no news is good news in this instance.
It is nice when a good team comes together and gets a good result.
Many thanks,
Martyn.
Is there an up and coming white paper to help others with this new found knowledge?
My clients are also having performance issues after being forced by Microsoft to upgrade their work stations from Window 7 to Windows 10. There is a 4 fold reduction in performance to the point where rendering some forms the user can see the controls being displayed down the page. Yes, the AV excludes OV & LK files. In fact all of the logical drive (P:) on the server where all of the OI files are located is excluded. Even my stand alone development laptop is having performance issues. Another indication of performance is when the cursor hovers above radio buttons the display flickers.
Any suggestion where I can look to see what may be causing the problem.
TIA
Chris
Hi Chris,
Yes, we will issue a whitepaper. The gist of it is to use revparam sharename directives so that all .lk and .ov files are pulled from the data server while static content ( including the revparam ) is pulled from the appserver.or even the desktop.
