One of our clients uses OpenInsight to manage all of their data.

They've hired us to do some consulting work, some of which requires us to convert the OpenInsight database tables into a more standard format, like comma delimited text file, dbf file, MS Access, etc.

Does a tool exist that will automate the conversion of data?

Thanks in advance.

No .. I don't beleive there is a standard export process as there used to be in Advanced Revelation.

You could try to use the 'Data Warehouse' to do the processing. But

I would suggest that you simple write an Ascii export as everything will import from ascii. Just be aware of multivlued structure. These extract nicely into secondary tables

If you want real-time access to OI tables AND you are still running OI on the same machine I can email you an OLE server that can be used via Visual Basic, Delphi, Access, etc. that can transfer data.

I would like a copy of this OLE server if you please. My bosses are threatening me with having to come up with a real-time connection between our OI app and some unknown external database.

Thank you

Actually we have a 32-bit utility called LH2TXT that exports OI tables from outside of OI (no ODBC, OLE, etc). It reads the data tables raw and spits them to delimited files very, very rapidly.

The demo can be found at www.bizsoftcorp.com

We created the demo some time ago but did not release the final product because we did not get the response that we had thought we would. If enough want it we will finish the documentation and release it.
