Is there a limit to the number of command line characters that can be passed with the runwin utility? I have recently encountered a problem with the following command.

Call Utility('RUNWIN','F:\RRWIN\REPORTER.EXE /AP=RRWIN /UN=RRWIN /RP=ROUTE_SUM_SHEETS_COMM.RPT /PV=1 /QU=1 /SEL=GETLIST ROUTE_SUM_SHEETS*DA9526E85448S /SELTYPE=revelationbasic')

When running this inside OI 3.5 with the NLM 1.5, I get no reporter and no report. If I switch my NetDrv to be NPP 1.4 the following command does work.

Call Utility('RUNWIN','F:\RRWIN\REPORTER.EXE /AP=RRWIN /UN=RRWIN /RP=ROUTE_SUM_SHEETS_COMM.RPT /PV=1 /QU=1 /SEL=GETLIST ROUTE_SUM_SHEETS*BRANDON /SELTYPE=revelationbasic')

If I try to use the RUN option with windows98 and paste in the following command:

F:\RRWIN\REPORTER.EXE /AP=RRWIN /UN=RRWIN /RP=ROUTE_SUM_SHEETS_COMM.RPT /PV=1 /QU=1 /SEL=GETLIST ROUTE_SUM_SHEETS*DA9526E85448S /SELTYPE=revelationbasic

I get an error message that states "F:\RRWIN\REPORTER.EXE" "A device attached to the system is not functioning."

What do I do now?

Brandon,

I believe there is a way to pass the command line parameters as a text file … I don't remember the syntax but try searching this online discussion and the knowledge base.

It's in the on-line help for the reporter in the starting Reporter from a command line:

You can also create a DOS file (in this example, SELECT.TXT) that contains any number of command line switches to load from the command line. In the following example, the SELECT.TXT file is used to load selection criteria.

C:\OINSIGHT\REPORTER.EXE /AP=DEMO /UN=DEMO @SELECT.TXT

Aaron,

Can this @textfile thing be used for OINSIGHT.EXE too?
