We are getting problems at several sites where some machines consistently GPF in DATATBL.DLL when opening certain windows. We can't reproduce the problem here so it has been very difficult to track down.

The details are either:

OInsight caused a general protection fault in module DATATBL.DLL at 0024:00000598

or

0026:00000c3c

I've got the register list if that is any help.

It is always the same positions in DATATBL.DLL that causes the GPF.

If anyone knows what might cause this in the OI code it would be a great help.

My guess is that their copy of DATATBL.DLL has either been corrupted or replaced with another version of this DLL. Have them check the version and/or date and time stamp. If there is a copy in Windows/System then this will override the one in the OpenInsight folder.

We've checked the OI copy of Datatbl.dll on a few problem machines and it is ok, and there are no other copies of the DLL elsewhere. I'll check a couple more machines to be certain, but I think the problem lies elsewhere.

Could there be something wrong with the edit table itself? What happens if you delete and create it again with Form Designer?

Even if you form doesn't fail on all computers some copies might be damaged while others are ok.

After much consternation over this very same problem which appeared to be window- or machine-specific, I stumbled upon what appears to be a solution: screen resolution; particularly, the setting of the size of the font in the dispay properties for either (1) font size or (2) color settings. Changing the setting to from got rid of the datatbl.dll gpf on a window I was having problems with, but on some machines this change only worked with an accompanying change to the color settings from 32-bit to 16-bit.

Hope this solves some aggravation!
