I've got a client running Arev 2.12 on a Novell 4.11 system currently. They want to shut down the Novell server and move Arev over to an NT 4.0 SP4 box. I seem to have confused myself with exactly what network driver should be used (it should be something I remember, but I don't change it that often). Someone help me out on this? Also, would it make a difference if the NT machine was set up as a file server versus a primary domain controller? I've tried running processes on while functioning on the NT Server machine, but some processes hang up when selecting. Suggestions, comments…

The Lan Driver is the Network Performance Pack driver (NPP). I think the current version is 1.5. Make sure that the directories on the NT server are shared and allow full access to users. It doesn't matter if it's a domain server or not. Just remember, it must be "dedicated" (don't try to run AREV from the server desktop). There's no locking there since the desktop does not see its local drive as a shared resource (therefore locking doesn't work properly).

Make a second copy of your app. on the Novell server, then change the network driver on the copy to All Networks BEFORE copying to the NT server. You'll have problems if the Novell driver is loaded when the application reaches the NT server.

Also, expect a performance hit on the NT box versus Novell. This may not matter if the NT box is about 3 times faster than the Novell one.
