User Count Exceeded (AREV Specific)

I have received a complaint from one of my site administrators that some of his users are being denied access to AREV due to User Count. However, he says that he is able to log on as a Level 1 user.
We are running AREV 3.12, Novell 4.10, and the AREV NLM. The site in question has LANPACKS for 15 concurrent users. We have a mixture of DOS 6.22, Win 3.1, and Win 95 clients. The administrator is using a Win 95 client.
Is there a problem with the User Count when we mix client types? Should different Level users have access when the user count approaches maximum? Any ideas?
Thank you…

I'm not sure what you mean by a "Level 1 user". I could use some explanation on that point, but here are some suggestions to can try to help narrow down the problem:
You can go to the server console and check CONNECTION INFO., at look at the users logical record locks. If some users are holding more than 1 logical record lock that could prevent all users from logging on.
People could hold open more than one lock if they adbruptly exit from Arev.
If you are using Client 32, you should make sure that you have the most recent version, which I think is 2.2 or 2.5.
With Windows 95 you want to make sure file sharing is turned off.
If people are adbruptly shutting down their Arev program, you can add the /x parameter to the TSR line to reset the connection status in these cases.

Search on 'Too many users' and you will find others (myself included) with the same problem. I have yet to find a definitive solution to the problem.

Greg,
Thanks for the info. I have had trouble maintaining an Internet connection to compose this response.
I will have the site administrator look into the version of Client32 and Win95 File Sharing. It seems to me that the File Sharing could be the problem for specific workstations, but the client32 is probably the same on all PCs. The other solutions would seem to be generic to all users, so I will spend less time with them.
The User Level I referred to is the Security Level which can be set for a given user (account) via the Advanced tab on the Startup-Options-Users window menu (F10). This is then compared to the Restriction Level which can be assigned to Menus and Menu Items to inhibit display of certain options for different 'level' users. It is also available in R/BASIC as the @PRIVILEGE variable.
The administrator is assigned Level 1, and the users which are having this problem are level 2 and level 3.
Please let me know if this information indicates a new solution.
Thank you.
