Fatal Errors (AREV Specific)

We currently upgraded our to new servers running Novell 5.1 and upgraded the NLM to 1.50 We are having daily Fatal Error writing in one of our files. Arev suggested there was something wrong with the file so we attempted to rebuild file only to receive same error. When doing an LH verify of the same file it comes out clean.

I think you'll find the NLM needs to be version 5.0+ for Netware 5 and above.
Doco for the version 5.0 NLM is here:-
The network product support matrix is here:-

We used to have an issue with fatal error writing errors, and it was almost always a time out issue. (It should say this in the error message).
One of the things that I did that greatly helped was to add a /R:100 switch to the LHIPXTSR.EXE call in the shortcut. This is the number of communication retries the TSR makes before giving up. The default is 8, I believe.
I found this makes the NLM much less susceptible to network latency issues. I still see the error every now and then, but it can almost always be traced to massive network degradation at the time of the occurence.

We tried the /R:100 switch to the LHIPXTSR route, and this did not work, the error is a GENERAL WRITE ERROR IN THE OPERATING SYSTEM FILE..
We are at a point where there are some files we can not process and are in jeporday of losing a client over this. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Just a point of information. I would consider moving your arev system local (temporarily) to do any LHVerify stuff, particularly if the table was large. Processed much faster and eliminates all the intervening network issues.
BTW you didnt mention the client O/S and Client Shell –] these should be the latest Win98 - v3.32sp1 and Win2000/XP v4.83sp1
