I have one partcular workstation that gives me back an error saying "Maximum number of users execeeded" when the user tries to log into Arev. It only appears to be occuring on this one station and I definately not maxing out on Arev licences (I have 21 installed and am using about half that number currently).

We are running Arev 3.12, the 3.12 NLM, Novel 4.11, and have a dedicated indexer. The users machine is a Win95 box. I've checked under Novell and this user does not have any files locked in Arev's network directory.

I realise it is a record unlocking/resetting situation of some type, but don't know what to remove/unflag.

Jim,

I've seen this problem at our site and we managed to track it down to the following scenarion.

The workstation was mapping to multiple netware servers. One of the other servers (not the one with AREV resident) returned a no connection available.

Apparently, from what I've read here, AREV will query all available netware servers, even if it is not running on that server, and if any of the servers returns no connection available, AREV will disallow the login.

If that's not the issue, then I have no clue. *grin*

Hope that helps,

Matt

This can also be caused by a Win9x machine that has drive sharing enabled.

If a Win95 machine WITH file and print sharing enabled exist on the network (say in a WAN scenario) but never acceses the AREV app or server, will it create a similar error condition. We also are being plagued with this problem and have ruled out CDRom servers and Client32 (Intranetware Client).
