We are runing on AREV 3.12 on an NT network. I have one of our remote sites (same setup) that is reporting that all of a sudden they are getting blank pages when they run reports. Any kind of a report, from TCL, canned or one that goes to a file. This is true for both AREV applications that they have. The two applications don't talk to each other but are under the same AREV directory. In the ones that go to a file, they are now seeing the page break character as the first character.

In searching this discussion area and the KB and searching Spezzatura, I found references to SET OPTION 'E'. I've looked thru my application at TCL - F10 - Utilities - Configure and all of the sub menu items trying to find some place where that might be set but couldn't find anything.

Does anyone have any ideas how and why a change like this might all of a sudden take place? Any suggestions as to where I might look to see where to set this option one way or the other?

The problem that my remote site is having now is that they import some of their AREV reports into a spreadsheet, appently using macros. Since the macros aren't setup to deal with this new page break character, it's causing them some problems. Also they are concerned about the waisted paper for the reports that go to the printer.

You can create a LOGON

You can create a LOGON in VOC, e.g.

SET-OPTIONS (E)

The question is, will the (E) setting do the trick.

Watch out, though. This makes the "E" option global to the application, and "E" as an option has different actions for other commands.

For example, results of SELECT, SAVE-LIST, GET-LIST commands are suppressed, and this lack of feedback may be disconcerting to some users who are accustomed to seeing this.
