I have a client that I want to install the OIPI to.

We have set up this client with two directories under the oinsight directory. \devmode and \runtime; both contain all the dll's and exe's with the oengine.exe in the runtime being the runtime.

I have a copy of the system on my box for development and

I tried installing the oipi into the \rv\oinsight\devmode

and chose the default option (apply to system directory), for

what I assume to be the oipi dlls.

I recieved an error msg (which I forgot to jot down) and then the

login to SYSPROG came up. I decided to try it but it would not

accept my SYSPROG pwd, (which I know is correct).

I have since restored to the backup I made before the install (but do have the original rv directory renamed as \rv bad), and am back to square 1.

I would like to get this going so I can apply it to the client but would like some more information and hence success.

I was also wondering about the help info re: the install portion on the system directory. This client is running on Win NT and we have 35 users. I would prefer not to have to install to each workstation but this is the recommended procedure. Can anyone shed some light on

this for topic for me.

Thanks.

Same here. Unless RTI makes the installation "smarter", you can't successfully install OIPI or apply RTI's update to OI. I know that this is a pain as we were hoping to provide clients with 1-copy of development and runtime (for multiple users). To update a client site with this setup would be a pain and discouraging.

The work-around is to copy all your DLLs and EXEs back under OINSIGHT. Apply your change and then move the files back to their respective folder.

Hmmm, thanks Ray that's a help. Obviously the most obvious solution which is why it is so obvious that I missed it.
