I have spent several hours developing a form and do not wish to start over. Somehow it appears that when I run the form a temp.tablename is attached to the data portion and maybe even the dictionary part of the table. I specify using "Actual data tables" and the actual data is not there. I have verified that the data is there by editing the actual data.

How do I verify the table name associated to the Form? I know I am probably missing something very basic.

Thanks

Another Miller…

A quick and dirty way to verify that the table & records are there is to go into System Editor and use it to Open Record from the File menu. You should see your table in the list of tables. Double-click on the Table and you should see the available Rows on the right pane.

If you don't see the table or the rows then use Database Manager to make sure that they are attached.

Don thanks for your fast response. I don't think I asked the question right. I did verify that the table and record I wanted to view in the form was there though the editor.

The problem is when you go into form designer and setup a new form, the system asks for the data source and table name. When I did this to start building the form I entered OpenInsight Tables for the source and CUSTOMERS for the table name. This table was an existing table with data already in it. Therefore at various step during development I viewed existing data to see if my progress looked good. However during the last set of modifications ( I don't know which one) the data that was there is missing. I did verify that the data did not really go away. I can only conclude that the table name associated to this form somehow got changed. Or it is internally flagged as running the form from a "temp" table.

How do I verify the table name assigned to the form?

In the form designer note under Tools - Preferences - there is a switch to use temp data or real data.

As I stated in my first question, I did make sure that I was using the "Actual Data". However I was able to find my own mistake. I wanted to redisplay the key of the customer file on the second page and mistakenly put the key field again on the form. It does not like that. I guess it got confused (like so many of us).

Thanks for your input.
