NZ Roadshow - Fantastic (OpenInsight Specific)

Bravo! RevSoft people sure got across the message that they were 'Open for business' and that they were putting the 'Open' into OpenInsight.
We were impressed by soooo much progress in the last nine months. Coming across loud and clear was RevSoft's commitment to enhance and improve the product and to support developers in doing business and accessing emerging markets. Not hollow rhetoric but words of substance - a list of recent fixes and enhancements and significant about ? to-be- released enhancements. And all those restrictive licensing barriers lifted with those that deploy the upcoming 3.75 release.
We were treated to a series of excellent demos of application extensions ? Palm and Wireless ? which underscored possibilities of OI in a web-centric world. JOY ? the Java front end - looks neat, and not vapour-wear.
Sprezzatura in the form or Andrew McAuley (and Stev Smith) did a lightning demo of their excellent creations ? S/List, S/Web S/ ?. (the list goes on ? just wish I had got a handout on their products). The stories behind the development of these products - to meet real-world needs of demanding clients ? reinforced in my mind the quality of Sprezzatura software and the skills they offer to the Arev and OI community.
Yea, I realise that many of you have already attended one of the Roadshows in the preceding weeks and this may seem stale news. But there is nothing like ?pressing the flesh? and hearing it from the key people to underpin ones confidence that RevSoft is moving forward; there is consistency in the stories, Rev continues to be a good development environment and the future looks bright (excuse the pun).
Thanks then to Mike, Andrew and Stev for coming so far to encourage the New Zealand development community and enthuse us with new OI offerings and RevSoft plans.

Dave, We missed you but Mike did a good job on presenting JOI (sorry about the Freudian slip in naming the cool Java front end in my earlier post). I see that my word processor must have picked up my feelings - somewhat overwhelmed by the rush of great new ehancements and strong customer focus - and added its own typos into the text of the post.
I think the audience really took on board RevSoft's positive attitude to customers when licencing was discussed. I believe Bil Vernon (VSL) raised a question concerning licence restrictions on certain types of runtime configurations. Mike's immediate response was 'why should we do that to our customers?' - unequivical commitment to remove any barriers to application developers doing legitimate business. At the same time Mike made it clear his ressolve to pursue any and every developer who was pirating licences.
As for the products we saw demonstrated - brilliant. I know personally of developers who went away impressed and with a new vision of what OI could be used for. As for me, I have already been in contact with clients about possibilities I saw for Sprezzatura's S/ Web and other applications.

Guys-
Thanks very much for having us. We had a great time meeting our antipodean developers- and had a good time in the cities we visited.
I feel that this is one of the most exciting time to be a Revelation developer- it's like 1989 all over again, when Arev was really maturing and there was a world of possibilities.
Thanks again to everyone who attended all the Roadshows- US, UK, AUS, NZ- and watch for 3.7.5!

We can only agree with these sentiments. It's been a complete BLAST! Whether it be Sprezz Oz, Sprezz US or Sprezz UK we've really enjoyed meeting our colleagues in the community. There has not been one audience that has not been uniformly appreciative of at last seeing progress from RevSoft management, we can only applaud Mike (and Bob and Dave and Dave) for taking this initiative!
We're sure that as more progress is made with the Works program the community as a whole can only move forward. We look forward to being involved with the revitalisation of the community and to the future - 32 bit engines, JOI et al.
To infinity….
