I see that Netware is coming out now with version 5, which is IP based instead of IPX based. What is the outlook for Arev on this platform?

Victor,

According to their link on the first page you can :

- still use IPX/SPX with Novell 5.0 when using AREV

- use TCP/IP when using OI4WG 3.7+

Have a look at that document.

We just released a new seperately certified version of the NLM for Novell 5.0. We are supporting only SPX/IPX - this enables support for both Dos (Arev) and Windows (OI).

Additionally, we recently release jLH 2.0 beta, it supports TCP/IP. We are continuing our testing with in JVM's on the Novell, NT, Solaris and Linux operating systems.

Our direction is to support TCP/IP with in the NT service and jLH service only.

Are there any specific advantages to going to NW5.0 and the NLM5.0?

We are running 4.11 with the NLM1.5 and also TCP/IP with a frame

relay connection to the Internet. It is working very nicely.

In purusing the literature on both the NLM and NW5.0 I haven't seen

anything indicating a speed improvement or such that seemed to

warrant an upgrade. Did I miss something? TIA, Jim

Victor,

I haven't tried in, but changing the locking on AREV to 3.1+ byte range should work fine.
