Thanks Jonathan for all the help on the last query but problem

is still not quite fixed.

The big problem is stuffing the variable with part of data

one color and the rest another color into a window

field. The data shows up with the color changes but it

also displays the esc characters used to change the colors

of the data. How can I properly display the data in a window

field without it showing the esc characters. Please note that

we dont really know the position of the data field.

How are you trying to apply the escape codes?

we do this all the time and it works

for example

to highlite a field (we do this in multivalued fields)

field=char(27):"CGP":field:char(27):"CAO"

are you running in a dos window through win95 or something

I stand corrected, the way we do it (se previous) response works untill you actually are on the prompt, then the esc codes show up

you will probably have to do some sort of Scribe replacement for the prompt. scribe replacement info can be found on second page of knowlege base articles for advanced revelation
