Strange Files Generated under OI413 (OpenInsight 32-bit Specific)

1360631.02E, 6D…….02C, etc.
Does anyone know what these are? what causes them. I don't think that they are important OI files so I deleted them.
If these files are generated as a part of OI413, can I redirect them to another folder. It would make cleaning time much easier.

These kinds of files have been around since AREV. Here is one a few posts that discusses this.
You can try changing the Sort Path from the Environment Settings dialog in the Database Manager to see if this helps direct where they go.

What I find interesting is that we see this on one client site in particular and not so much here. Is there something you do in particular to get these "strange" files.
I started to notice this because we were copying some files and I said to myself "what is going on!" Then I saw the 40,000 files.
I will try your suggestion explicitly defining a sort path.

Sorts that go bad are probably leaving behind these files. The file extension is something like "vfs" but I am not sure. I think these are temporary files used for the sorts. You can delete them. However, I would try to find out what is causing them because your results may be erroneous. Notice anything funny about the sort results?
