I have a case where the system is not setting the savewarn property when a value is returned from an index lookup and stuffed into a control with the TEXT property.

Savewarn is set if the datum is entered from the keyboard. The window in question is genertated from another window (actually a second instance of the first window) and accessess a different record in the same table. The control is identified as @MDIACTIVE.controlname. Since there are several controls in the window, only some of which might be used to enter data, it is not practical to 'watch' all of them to manuall turn on savewarn. Is there something I need to set for the window?

TEXT does not trigger the SAVEWARN property because it doesn't update the underlying column. The reason you can hand enter data is because the system will update the column data upon a LOSTFOCUS of that control. Since you are updating this control via an external process, the control is never told to update its column data. dbakke@srpcs.com [url=http://www.srpcs.com]SRP Computer Solutions
