We have a window in our system which accepts and stores notes from the user, and 'Notepad' if you like. This window uses an edit box to accept the text.

Our users have now requested the ability to be able to change the the font, point size, and style at will within the 'notepad'.

Is there any way of accomplishing this?

Setting the 'rich text' flag in formdes only seems to make the control read only. Am I doing something wrong?

TIA

Richard

No. The RTF edit box is read only.

RTI,

Will there ever be a time where we have a usable 'rtf' control in OpenInsight?

David,

Just a friendly "me too" gripe:

Do you with "usable" mean writable? You might remember me complaining about RTF edit boxes not being able to display 8-bit characters. The ability to show 8-bit characters would make RTF edit boxes usable enough for me. I did look at the source code some, but couldn't find time to study it thoroughly. I also wasted a lot of time trying to download the old 16-bit VC++ from MSDN. It seems MS got my name wrong in their MSDN subscription database, and I had to call them several times to get it right. After that I realised the gods are against me in this issue, so I've put it on the bottom of my priority list, together with some nice flowers and leaves I want to have pressed. :-)

Btw - what do *you* want to use RTF edit boxes for? I had two cases where I wanted them, but by rethinking the problem I found that the first case was better served with an hierarchical list box with images!!! Strange but true.

Oystein,

You bet. Sure .. at least rti gave us the one-legged read-only rtf control BUT why not a writable control. Probably cost another 27 cents .. hey .. maybe they are planning on getting a writable control and that is why the works costs an extra 400$ this year .. you think
