I'm involved with the installation of Revelation NLM on a networked

Arev 2 application running on Win 3.1 workstations. This application handled sharing and locking with no problems before, but with NLM, everything seems to be going wrong: chewed files with linear hash errors, lost record locks, etc. What could be going wrong? I thought NLM was supposed to make such things much less likely, instead of common.

What version of the ARev are you using (2.03, 2.12, etc).

Check to see if ARev is communicating with the NLM correctly. To do this, log into your application and get to a TCL (usually the F5 key).

From the TCL type "EDIT FILES VOC", and hit return.

A screen should pop up that has 3-4 lines, the last starting with a musical note. This last line should contain a string of 6 "F"'s.

If the line does not contain the string, then the NLM is not communicating correctly. I would suggest re-installing the NLM again, making sure to follow all of the steps in the instruction booklet.

Let me know what happens.

Make sure the DOS filenames in each directory do not start with the same REVxx prefix. For example, if you have directories \AREV\DATA1 and \AREV\DATA2, DATA1 might have files REV25001, etc. and DATA2 might have REV35001.
