I have just copied my AREV 3.11 installation from my old PC (Windows 98 SE) to my new PC with Windows ME.
I can't get AREV to run from a pif, Windows startup, explorer, or plain old anywhere/anyhow.
I have set files=100, enabled expanded memory, and still cannot get it to start.
Error message displayed is "cannot find the file C:\arev311\arev.exe".
It is plainly there on the drive.
Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks.

By any chance did you burn a copy to a cr then copy from the cd to your new hard disk? If so I think you have to do a attrib -r *.* /s on the Arev subdirectory.
Hope this helps

If you haven't already, try delete the Windows 3.11 pif - these are
not compatible with 32-bit versions of Windows.
To begin with, try for access to the SYSPROG account. Select the AREV.EXE from the Browse options when creating the desktop shortcut. You can add/modify the command line parameters afterwards.
Ensure you haven't any old copies of command.com among your AREV
volumes - these will prevent correct loading of the AREV session,
especially if located in the REVBOOT path.
Check there is no file AREV.COM or AREV.SCR in your REVBOOT path
- these may take precedence over AREV.EXE

Thanks to all for your responses so far.
I am beginning to think that I did not get a full copy of all of the AREV files onto the new hard drive from the CD.
I'm going to start from scratch with the copy and see where that leads. I'll keep you posted.
Thanks again.
