EMS & Windows ME (& Win2000) (AREV Specific)

I ran AREV under Win ME recently - it worked but only with about 100KB spare which didn't stretch far when I moved up 2 levels. The reason, as I've learned even more recently is that ME won't/can't load Himem.sys & emm386.exe (even though they are installed off the CD!), hence no EMS page in AREV.
Please, has anyone found a way to get these EMS drivers loaded on ME?
Furthermore, is there the same EMS problem with Win2000?
Thanks in forlorn hope

230K of conventional memory available.
In 2000 you put the device drivers in CONFIG.NT not CONFIG.SYS.
I'm not sure if this is the same in Windows ME.

EMS works under ME, for the most part, but some new machines will not recognise EMS at all, no matter what the OS.

Andrew,
Sprezzatura has the right idea. To check if it is possible to enable EMS on your Windows ME machine, take a look:http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q275/4/23.ASP
Hope it proves useful,

I tried the following:
In System.ini under the 386Enh section I added the following line:
EMMInclude=E000-EFFF
I will tell you I am only guessing re the address used (E000-EFFF), but it did work. I got expanded memory on my Windows ME system (on a Dell Inspiron 8100) after trying and failing with all the other suggestions I found here and on Microsofts site.
