Does anyone know what causes this to appear - F.DISTRIBUTOR - when running a routine? Thanks, Dale

Line 3 'F.DISTRIBUTOR' broke because a run time error was encountered.

Was the printer on at the time? It is just that there should be another line like "Variable not assigned a value zero used". If the printer was on, this line would be sent to the printer before you see the rest of the message on screen.

No the printer was not on at the time. The routine does not even deal with printing. It eventually writes to an ascii file. Could you help me out understanding what F.distributor is about? Thanks.

Certainly. F.Distributor deals with updating index transactions. See http://www.sprezzatura.com/revmedia/v2i9a4.htm. Note that this article is slightly out of date but the basics still apply. Does the ascii file being produced contain any more of the missing error message?

It doesn't get that far. The routine preps the data and then asks for a filename to write to. It occurs when it starts to look at records. I will run the indexing functions for the files an then see what happens. I will let you know. Thanks

We'd guess it's calling an index.flush before doing the updates or something.
