Image Formats (OpenInsight Specific)

IN previous discussion topics, reference is made to various file formats supported as images.
I have tried BMP, ICO, JPG and these are OK.
I note that there are many files in the OI directory of IM11xxx.DIL.
The xxx refers to the image type, of which there are BMP, DXF, EPS, GIF, IMG, JPG, PCD, PCX, PNG, TGA, TIF, WPG.
I presume that these are image drivers or similar.
Is this the case?
If so is there any way of creating your own?
I have had no luck getting a DXF file to display.
I have saved a file in AutoCAD as DXF, and presume that this would be compatible.
Has anyone had any luck with DXF, and if so how was this file created.
Thanks

Colin,
What handles images in OI is the Imageman library. To implement other image formats I imagine you would have to approach the company behind Imageman and buy additional components.
I have never tried DXF. But with other formats (JPG, GIF) I have noticed some flavours display and some don't. E.g, interlaced GIFs don't display. E.g, transparent GIFs show, but without transparency. E.g, animated GIFs display, but only the first frame (i.e, not animated). So if there are different flavours of DXF I would try several before I gave up. Perhaps dig out some very old DXF files. Older flavours would have a better chance.
Or again - approach the company and see if they've got a newer version of their DXF DLL. A 16-bit version of course. And tell them you just need to display images from files, not create image files.

Colin,
The DXF file format is a vector drawing format rather than a bitmapped image iamge format like BMP, GIF, TIF, JPG, etc. It is an ascii text represntation of an AutoCAD drawing. DXF was created by Autodesk specifically to allow exchange of data with AutoCAD. The DXF format changes with each new release of AutoCAD. A driver designed to handle an earlier DXF file format will not work with a newer one and vice versa - there is no forward or backward compatibility.
Best wishes,
