Our AREV3.12 went down and won't come back up. (AREV Specific)

Early this morning one of our DBAs was rebuilding some indexes on a table in one of out AREV 3.12 applications. Things were going along and then all of a sudden the AREV system went down. We have two Arev systems on different servers. One server holds our various develop modules and the other server holds all of our live applications. Both AREV systems went down at the same time (as far as we can tell). We were able to restart the Linear Hash on the Develop side but we've been unable to bring up the Live side of things. It acts as if the Linear Hash is down but nothing they have done so far has brought it back up. I haven't been in on what they have been trying so I'm not sure of all of the ins and outs that they've tried this morning.
Does anyone have any suggestions that we might try? Or do you have any suggestions as to were we might read-up on what might be the problem and what we might try as possible solutions.
Thank you,

What message do you get when u launch your live AREV ? If you cannot launch at all, then the culprit may be the corrupted AREV.EXE file itself; try restoring from your backup.

Thanks for your help. One of the things that was tried early on was coping the AREV.EXE from one system into the one that was acting up but that didn't get us anything. We tried several things. We finally restored from backup and that seems to have done the trick. Of course by us restoring from backup, that also overwrote the AREV.EXE file as you suggested. We're still not sure what caused our original problem so we aren't sure what was fixed but everything looks good for the moment. It was just one of those things no body had seen before and ad us all in a twidder.
Thanks,
