One of our users is using Win 2000 and is experiencing some obscure speed problems.

On closing the OIPI preview window it may take 30-40 seconds to close and relinquish resources, but changing the shortcut to run in separate memory space resolved this.

The other problem (which is what this topic is all about) is that this delay is also being experienced on some MSG dialogs.

We use MSG all over the place and not all are having this problem, as far as we can understand it, and no other users have this.

The software has been in the marketplace for over 6 years.

Any ideas on what may be causing the problem?

Hi Colin,

I have not seen this closing speed problem with the OIPI before. You might try using the TERM, 0 (instead of a TERM, 1), because it does not end the OIPI.EXE program when you close the preview window. You should also make sure this client is using the latest OIPI, because I have not done any testing under Win2000 with the pre-4.0 versions. You should also have this client download and install the latest printer drivers for their printers – sometimes older device drivers (or the drivers from the Win2000 CD) can cause strange issues like this with the 16-bit version of the OIPI/VSVIEW control. Under Windows 2000 you should also consider using the OIPI32 for the new features and faster printing.

Tony

The problem with OIPI is OK as stated.

We are now issuing a new release with OIPI32.

The remaining problem with MSG still remains though.
