At TCL, I edit a file using EDIT command and then press Shift-F7 key to list out all the rows in that particular file. Then the system give one error message :

The program causes a divide overflow error.

If the problem persist, please contact your program vendor.

After the error messages, the system exit automatically and the computer hang. What's happening ?? Anyway to solve the problem ?? I am not running any program, I just tried to edit a record in a file. But when I specified a record to edit, there is no problem, but the error came out whenever I press Shift-F7 to list out the rows, issuing COUNT to count the total rows and when I issued SELECT command.

Please help. Thanks !!!

Fong,

Try running AREV from a DOS prompt rather than a short-cut and to the same thing. Chances are that you'll still get some type of crash/freeze but it will be a little different. GFE's have caused this type of reaction for us.

How much conventional memory available? Is EMS installed and configured correctly? (No more than 4096 K). If you need to select a record to edit:

EDIT and press

From the dialog, press the F2 key to get a popup of records to edit (one or more) and press F9. You will have a browse list which will allow for forward and for backwards. The key invokes another instance of the editor which sucks up memory and string space which will give a divide overflow unless you have at least 360K of conventional memory available after AREV loads and EMS enabled. To check this, press and type WHO
