Group 0 GFE (AREV Specific)

Okay, so here's the deal. I have a table with a GFE in group 0. According to DUMPLH, there are approx. 3,100 records in this table. If I try a TCL SELECT, I get a ReadNexting error and it only selects around 320 records.
I wrote a quick & dirty program to R/Basic select the table and copy records to a new table. Again, I get the ReadNexting error and only get around 320 records.
I checked with our server guys, and this table apparently got the GFE the day it was created, so there are no "good" backups of it.
It's not the complete end of the world if I can't recover all of the data, but I would feel much better if I could.
Am I pretty much sunk?

You might be able to recover my records using OSBREAD (gotta know the file structure), or, try this:
Create a new file with the same modulo. OSBREAD the first frame from the new file and OSBWRITE it over your problem file. That will eliminate any records in group 0 which are probably lost anyway, but you should be able to get data from the other groups, that way.
Or, use dump to step through the file and fix whatever problem there is using the hex editor.

Some one said GFE stands for Gone For Ever.
The DUMP fix all option or FIXLH should scan through all the groups and write out any records it finds to the proper groups. Anything that looks like a partial record winds up in the SYSTEMP file with a key starting filename_GROUP_
Just backup the file at the OS level first.

Nope⦠Try Warren's way first. See what results you can get. If the results are not good enough, report back. Someone here does have knowledge or software that just might be able to extract the data with better results.
Basically you might loose a couple of rows. Rows at the end of a corrupted primary or overflow frame. Chances are that there is only one frame damaged. Although "GROUP 0" GFE sounds so nasty!
There are so many ways around the "GROUP 0" frame, so don't loose hope.

We have some file trolling programs to do this, but if there are records in there, and you can create a file with the correct frame information (modulo and framesize), you should just be able to do as Warren suggests and just update the first 26 bytes.
