My question adresses to Client/Server Data Specialists.

I have created Connection and DataSet using ODBC-16 bit Microsoft Dbase driver. I have quick access using Query Window. Then I created form with Database Association. And I have problems. I can only read dBase records, and can't create, modify and delete rows. What needs to correct it ?

Thanks.

Yes, I did. I have created scripts, using DEFINE SCRIPTS button. In AUTO-DEFINE SCRIPTS window all scripts are marked. In Scripts tab I checked all scripts and then saved Entity DataSet. My Dbase file is located on local drive C: ; in OpenInsight I am working as a user Sysprog in Sysprog Application, so I think that all scripts attempts an action is authorised. But I can only read rows !

My Microsoft dBase-16 driver works very strange. It not supports "standart" SQL sentances in Query Window. (for example driver don't "understand" word "where" in all variants). Then I use another 16-bit driver (non Microsoft company ), and now I can insert, delete and update rows using Query Window. But there are no results if I try to use Form, associated with DataSet.

Is anybody knows, what kit of drivers (and type of SQL) is correct for C/S ?

Peter,

First, you are on the right track. Different ODBC drivers support different syntax sets and different features. Since the scripts gen'd for you by the DataSet designer are "generic", they may or may not work with (or be the best scripts for) a particular driver.

What you want to find is:

1) A 16-bit ODBC driver

2) That supports udpating the data

3) That supports standard SQL syntax

Thank You for advice.

But I have found driver which:

1) A 16-bit ODBC driver

2) That supports udpating the data

3) That supports standard SQL syntax.

Now I can update, delete, insert data in Query Window.

But again NO Results (only Read) using Form Associated with DataBase !

Why ?

Thanks.
