Hi,

I am trying to bring an old OI2.65 app up to my OI7.2. I have run APPBACKUP on the 2.65 and copied the data. On 7.2 I have created a directory structure that is the same as 2.65. When I run APPBACKUP to restore, everything is updated except there is no data in the tables and the reports that were created in 2.65 are not present. I checked the copy data box in both directions. While I have had OI for a long time, I don't use it enough to know what to do in this case. How can I reclaim the data and the reports?

TIA,

Marty

- I'm not sure why the reports would not come across. You may need to make a temp_reports table, copy_ROW 'SYSREPOSREPORTS', '*', 'TEMP_REPORTS', '*' from the old system, then attach the table in the new system, copy them in.

- Just copy the data tables directly without using appbackup.

- Why stop at 7.2? If you are upgrading go to the latest version: 9.2 or at least 8.08

Hi Bob,

Thanks for the response. I don't use OI very often so I don't know what files are the data tables. How can I find this out? Actually, I have been contemplating an upgrade in the not to far distant future.

Thanks,

Marty

Marty,

The data tables will reside in a child folder off the OI boot directory. If you use the 'default' folder it will be Datavol. Normally you will have created a specific directory / volume for your application data - and this will be clear when you bring up the AppManager tool and view attached Volumes.

Hi Richard,

Thanks for the point in the right direction. I copied the files from the folder in my 2.65 app to a folder of the same name in my 7.2 app and then attached them. Everything was there including all the data. However, one table (MATERIAL_COVER) should have a BTREE index on two of its columns. When I "List Indexed Tables" the list will display this table as being indexed but the "BTREE" index column will display "0." The file "!MATERIAL_COVER" is present and I can see the proper two columns as being indexed when I try to "Add BTREE Index" the display will show the two columns as being indexed. I tried removing and re-adding, but couldn't do it. This app was originally written in 1996 and I don't remember why I indexed those columns.
