Is it Ok to Clear Connections (Networking Products)

Using Arev 2.12 LH.NLM 5 on Netware 6
We have users that remain logged into Arev at backup time resulting in the backup skipping any open files.
I am already disabling login after a certain time but has anyone come up with a way to force the users to exit? In many cases there is no one there as they have just left their WS logged in.
With the NLM, is it now safe to clear the connections from the Netware server console or does that still result in GFEs in the open files?
Thanks for any tips!

Chris,
Typically we use the background index process to log out AREV sessions at specied times. I would not be comfortable with clearing connections, especially if background indexing is actually being used.

Thanks for the response. Are you making a distinction between clearing a connection as I mentioned and logging out a connection form another client connection? I was not aware you could do that; can you explain? (We have a dedicated indexer that shuts itself down prior to backup)
Thanks
Chris

Chris,
I was making a distinction between using Novell to clear a network connection (regardless of someone still being logged into AREV) versus using AREV itself to detect if the current user is logged in at the wrong time and then log it self off just as your index server does.

Sorry, I missed your point earlier. Yes, using the background process would work very well.
Thanks!
