Last time I looked at an index window on OI, it was updating information, though I honestly can't remember anymore if the status bar updated. I think it did. Could be something with the version of CTL3D.DLL.
As for why the keys aren't being returned, have you tried a rebuild? Is there another index field on this file? If so, find a value of one of the keys that is not returning and search on that. If the index returns the key, then odds are there is no key/index corruption. If the index does not return the record, then rebuild all indexes from that file.
After the rebuild, run the searches again. If it finds the keys, most likely this meant something happened during the update so these transactions were never processed. If it doesn't find the keys, most likely you have a value-mark in a key and it's throwing everything off.
