I have a client who has just informed me he has upgraded his PC from W98 to Windows 2000. He needed it loaded for some other business utility.
When he runs the Arev shortcut, he doesnt get the full screen , it is only bit less that 1/2 screen, "windowed" is the same size (NB there is no font change option - is that normal now for 2000).
I dont have 2000 so I have no experience.
Is this familiar to anyone. Any cures or suggestions.

Barry,
Yes this has something to do with the video being restricted to 25 lines x 80 chars. Chances are the machine is set to 640x800 or greater resolution.
When you Alt+Enter is returns to the most basic video and reduces the display accordingly.
I know of no way around this.
The only alternative is "windowed" operation which then encounters the extremely slooowww screen display.
Hope this helps

Thanks, I will pass it on. I will get him to change the resulution and see what happens.
Bit of a worry for future Arev customers (Yes!, they are around) who have Win2000 installed.

Barry,
I am fairly new to Win2K and WinXP, but have DOS programs runningtheir full screen. I have been able to get this by getting to the
"windowed" command prompt, and then running my program as I normally
would. After the "windowed" screen is filled, I just hit
and it shows me a normal, full DOS session.
I may be doing something different. I'm not sure. Anyway, good luckand I'll try to find something on this.

I know this is an old thread and the link that Kevin provided does have an answer for helping AREV (or DOS apps in general) to display correctly. However, just in case others have this problem we found the Microsoft article that provides the official reason and solution. FWIW, we tried this with success on both 2000 and XP machines.
