Has anyone had experience in running AREV 3.12 on Windows Terminal Server?

Our company's IT strategic plan includes migrating our existing network from Novell to Windows 2000 Server. As part of that plan we would like to run our legacy AREV 3.12 system using Windows Terminal Server.

Our existing Novell network consists of four 4.11 file servers. The file server at our central office hosts the database. The AREV executables are stored locally at the remote file servers and the drive mappings point back to the central server for the database.

Our intention here is to bring up a new site without installing AREV on the local file server while leaving my existing Novell network intact. This would allow a phased approach whereby I can convert my network from Novell to Windows2000 one site at a time.

Is it possible to run a mixed environment whereby I could keep my AREV system on a Novell server and connect to Windows Terminal Server to run a portion of my existing users? Or must I migrate the AREV system onto a Win2000 Server.

Thanks!

In this environment you will need arevfix.com and (if you have many users) possibly the CPUPLUS utility if you exceed 20 users per terminal server.

You can map to the Novell-based drives using NWLINK, the Microsoft gateway to Novell servers.

Expect a degree of performance degradation over the pure Novell setup.
