Does anyone know if there are any problems with upgrading to Windows 98 (25 user) Novell 4.2 (from 3.12) and client 32 while continuing with arev / dos application?

The option is to just go to Novell 2.2 but still windows 98.

Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.

For starters,

Novell 4.2 is much like 4.11 with all the patches. Use the 3.10 client, not the 2.7 Netware client supplied by default.

Flag all files -T (TTS off)

Mark all files shareable-read-write except for REV.exe Shareable Read Only.

Ensure that every file has a valid Novell user.

Turn write caching off at the client.

In high transaction settings, using the LH.NLM would be advisable.

We have installations running

AREV v3.12 with Novell 4.11 and Novell 4.2,

with client workstations running Windows 95, Windows 98, and Windows 98/second edition.

The client 32 software is Novell Intranetware client v2.2 and v3.1

No problems whatsoever with this enviornment, but beware of the

Novell clients v2.5 and v3.01 as indicated in the knowledge base.
