We are running under Arev 3.12. I've got a window prompt that takes meter readings (like the number of hours a piece of equipment has been operating) that has a post-prompt process that changes a related prompt that takes the date of the meter reading from protected to required if data has been entered into the current meter reading prompt. If nothing has been entered into the meter reading prompt I want to leave the date meter reading prompt protected and empty. Under general usage the post prompt process works fine. The trouble comes when a user enters something into the meter reading prompt and doesn't exit the prompt (the cursor is still on this prompt) and then hits F9 to save the screen information.

I'm trying to find a way to cancell the F9 (save) process and let the post prompt process continue so that it can force the user to fill in the related date prompt. So far my attempts haven't met with success and my reading of postings within this forum and the Knowledge Base haven't turned up anything of use yet. Anyone have any ideas?

Do you have a pre-save process on the window? In the pre-save process you can do any validation you want to, and if there is invalid data you can display a message. The key to stopping the save process is to set WC_VALID%=False (0). This will abort the save process and return to the window.
