Client running AREV ver 3.12. Wish to use OpenInsight to warehouse the data to a central database with the update only feature. This involves adding the MFS XQ_MFS to the tables.

My question is can I just copy $XQ_MFS from the OpenInsight SYSOBJ table to the AREV SYSOBJ table and catalogue it. ie: is XQ_MFS compatible with the DOS system.

The database is SQL compatible and locking is coordinated between the two systems via NLM ver1.50.

It would be possible to copy over that row but there are two problems that you would bump into:

• The MFS code for OI is slightly different from the Arev code, and won't work properly
• Runtime systems and arev systems aren't going to have the syslists table for transaction processing.

Workarounds? Sure: The code for the MFS can be ported easily enough (Arev vs. OI code isn't too big of a language switch), and there's a knowledge base article about how you can setup a transaction table, programmatically (this code might also require some Arev tweaking).
