Hello,

My client is currently having problems with her Lotus Approach database and I think it might be caused by her current problems with Lotus Notes. She has asked our technical support department for assistance, but they have not been successful in solving her problems. Here is what's been done on her machine so far and where the errors have occured.

Please let me know if anyone has a possible solution to her problem. I'm currently at a stand-still right now and she's very anxious to resolve her problems.

Thank you,

Pam

PREVIOUS TECHNICAL SUPPORT WAS PROVIDED, BUT NOT SUCCESSFUL:

  1. removal and renewal of harddrive
  1. LAN assist
  1. change out ring connection to a single cable
  1. closure of unused paths

MAJOR PROBLEMS with Lotus Notes and Lotus Approach:

(A) Mostly, Lotus Notes freezes up when Client has not been working on it for about 1/2 hour or longer.

When Client returns from a meeting and move the mouse to activate the screen, the system will not let her move around in Lotus Notes.
Sometimes, the system will freeze up when Client working on it. While this was happening every day for several weeks,
it now is occuring less frequently. However, it has happened even after the latest assist about a week ago.

(B) Now, Lotus Approach is malfunctioning=maybe these two errors are associated?

After clients sends an email through Lotus Approach, various boxes pop-up with an error message:
    (1)	Name Validation:
Unknown or ambiguous recipient name, Pam Eligio.
Accept name and send?
    (2)	Lotus Approach:
Mail error: Mail application error
OK?
    (3)	Lotus Approach:
Mail error: Your mail application does not support this oiperation
OK?

ERROR MESSAGES WHEN WORKING ON LOTUS NOTES

(1) 'Netware Security Message. The system could not log you into the network.

Make sure your name and connection information are correct., then type in password again."
Client had successfully logged on the system in the first place and was successfully working on Lotus Notes.

(2) When I attempt to close error message #1, the next message appears :

      "Could not open I.D. file"
Client did NOT make any attempt to re-login other than move the mouse and close #1 message.

(3) Following my attempt to close the error message #2, this appears:

"You cannot quit Notes because a dialogue is active. Switch to Notes...and close the dialogue."
Client keeps shutting getting down by Lotus Notes.

(4) Then, attempting to close error messge #3, this appears:

"The Notes.in file cannot be found on search path: K/Notes/Data/Notes:ini"
At this point Client shuts the entire computer down, wait awhile and try again...
