We are working on an AREV 1.12 system for a client, running under Windows 98.

Several of us have experienced a situation where attempting to launch AREV results in an RTP27, file has not been opened error, and AREV won't boot.

Most times it is only AREV that fails, but the last one crashed Windows completely.

It appears to occur during normal processing. I had no problems during the last session.

It is in some REV*.* file since restoring them fixed the problem.

Anyone have any idea as to the cause, how to prevent it, or how to fix it once it happens?

Thanks,

Have you tried using:

\arev.exe username/x/m4096

on the command line of the shortcut?

If I recall correctly, expanded memory was not implemented

Try increasing the file handles to 100 in config.sys.

Also, ensure that the shortcut memory settings are set to absolute numbers, not "Auto".

Finally, apply Service Pack 1 from Microsoft for Windows 98
