I have no knowledge of this program or databases in general, but I unfrtunately am assigned to try and fix this one. If anyone has time to help me I would greatly appreciate it, although I am not sure I will understand the answer either :)

Here is what i have. AREV not sure what version (copyrighted 1986) on a 486/33 (8mb RAM) running MS DOS 6.20 there are 2 legacy optical drives on a SCSI bus to which images have been archived. when i boot the system i come to a custom menu within the AREV that gives me several options. the first option is to retreive an image which is what i want to do. when i select this option the fun begins. i wrote it all down, so here goes

Attaching files for "ACCTNAME"

refresh screen

a box in the middle labeled INITIALIZING

in the box 'Reading memory resident windows'

         'Opening Table, Menu, Help...'
         'Checking Security'

after this i get

'WPRINT' LINE 22 B10 Variable has not been assigned a value,

                     zero used.

'WPRINT' LINE 30 B10 Variable has not been assigned a value,

                     zero used.

i then have to press return after which the above repeats

i then press return again after which i get a single beep then

'CLOSE.WINDOW' LINE 9 B10 Variable has not been assigned a value,

                     zero used.

this continues listing lines 9,10,11,12,17,20,24,31, and 32

i then get

'DELETE.WINDOW' LINE 8 B10 Variable has not been assigned a value,

                     zero used.

that is displayed twice

then

'FIND.ERRORS' LINE 29 B10 Variable has not been assigned a value,

                     zero used.

when these last messages are displayed i also get a box at the bottom of the screen that says

Window variable not in range 1-50!

I am then dumped to a command line prompt.

i am at a wall, and need desperately to access these images. i contacted REVELATION and all they could do is refer me to an outside support vendor. i am hoping not to have to go that route. thanks in advance. if not posted to the board i can also be reached at [email protected]

Usually, the cause of this problem is that the routine calls for a variable x, y, junk, whatever, has not been defined.

Go into the routine WPRINT by first finding out where it is by

F5

EDIT VOC WPRINT

If nothing happens or you get a blank screen, then you have a runtime version and you need to contact the developer who wrote this.

Otherwise

a box will come up with stuff in it.

the location will be on the third line. Chances are it will be something like BP

exit by pressing {esc}

then type

EDIT BP(OR WHATEVER THE FILENAME IS) WPRINT.

Goto the line indicated and see what variables are used. then search to see if there is a line that says: variablename= whatever

If by now you are really lost, get a developer.
