I still cannot run Arev 3.12 under Win2000.

Here?s my configuration for 2 workstations:

‒ Novell 5.0 SP2

‒ Arev 3.12

‒ NLM 5.0

‒ Novell Client NT Driver v.4.7

‒ Preferred Protocol set to IPX

‒ Ethernet frame type set to 802.2

‒ The NWLink IPX/SPX is set above other protocols (NetBEUI and TCP/IP)

I have 2 workstation using Windows 2000 Professional.

Computer A is a completely new Win2000 installation.

‒ When I run ipxlhtsr in the ?DOS box?, the lhipxtsr loads properly.

‒ When i run arev.exe, it gives the following error:

?RTP27' Line 1.  ERRMSGB12

Computer B is upgraded from Win98 SE to Win2000.

‒ When I run ipxlhtsr in the ?DOX box?, the lhipxtsr DO NOT LOAD. It said ?IPX not present?.

These computer were able to access Arev when they were using Win98 SE.

WIN NT Workstation and therefore WIN 2000 Professional operate in a

different manner from WIN 95/98.

You need to load things such as the tsr from within batch files that

you trigger from within arev.

You run into difficulties if you try to execute them from simple TCL

calls.

Set such procedures up as batch files at the DOS level then call them

from within AREV thus …..

SUSPEND EXIT batchfilename

You also need to ensure that you have established Shortcuts from which

to activate AREV and to have set memory to Expanded with a 4096 limit.

From the Windows Explorer right mouse click on the batch file to set

the properties and ensure that you set those same properties on the

AREV.EXE in the same manner because WIN NT et seq require this as a

separate step.

I believe I setup the shortcut correctly. The ems is set at 4096 (in the memory). The Cmd line is f:\arev\arev.exe pos /x /m4096

The config.nt contains

dos=high,umb

device=himem.sys

files=200

emm=ram

The autoexec.nt contains

redir

dosx

vipx

vlmsup

What is error RTP27 anyway ?

In your config.nt you need to reduce the files= to 100 or 101

depending upon to whom you listen.

The emm should not be set to ram - set it to no more than 4096

because that is all that arev can handle.

I did both of them (files=100 or 101, and emm - 4096). But it doesn't work.

Now both computers can load lhipxtsr (I had to put vipx.exe and vlmsup.exe in the autoexec.nt to load the ipx).

I even tried uninstalling Novell NT Client 4.7 and install version 4.5 (downloaded from this website). But the NT Client 4.5 refused to complete the install (shell error) because this is windows 2000.

Is there anyone else who can run Arev in W2k workstation using NLM5 ? I am sure I am not the only one.
