I've been getting a rash of broken link list errors. I tested record locking and it is not working, two different users can change the same record. I suspect that this could be part of the problem. We are running AREV 3.12 on a NT Server with NT Service 1.5 installed. What can I tell the network people to check?

Check what network driver Arev is using.

Press F5 and type WHO.

Ensure you have ServerOnly=1 in the REVPARAM file.

The netword driver is set at "All Networks". Is there a specific driver for the NT Server?

The NPP driver is the correct one for the NT service. If you are not getting locking on workstations then the NT service is not functioning properly on the server. You can verify this by setting the Serveronly parameter in REVPARAM to True.

We are getting the message FS176

Warning!

Netware is not responding. The server is inactive or your workstation shell has not been loaded. You will not be able to lock tables or rows. Use only local tables or log out and check out your network connection.

Network Driver is set to "All Networks". What could be making AREV look for a Novell server? Is there any setting we may have overlooked? Does any file have to be copied to the workstations for the NT Server? Is there any hard code within AREV that would look for a Novell Server or the IPX/SPX protocol?

Help??????

By some bizarre chance have you loaded LHIPXTSR before launching AREV? If you previously used the NLM and switched to NT, did you start AREV from a batch file that included LHIPXTSR? That would cause AREV to look for the IPX/SPX driver and Novell.

Later versions of ARev stopped reading the network driver name from the driver, reading it from the SYSNETWORKS file instead.

It sounds like either the REVBOOT file was read-only and was never updated or someone restored using a Netware version.

Change the driver to non-networking then back to All Networks.

Thank you!

This worked, it got rid of the "Netware Warning" at login. I checked record locking and it's still not working. Are these two separate problems? If so, what can we look for to correct the record locking problem?

You did change it back to the All Networks driver?

Yes. I double-checked by using the WHO command. Next to Vendor/Type it says "All Networks".
