We are going from an Arev customization to an Openinsight customization. Does anyone know what other type programs can be compatible with OI. We are looking at a canned timeslips program that we would need it to be able to read the fields in OI. Also what about using OI with Microsoft Word?

Compatibility is in the eye of the developer. When you say it needs to be able to read the OI fields, what mechanism does it employ? If it uses a straight ASCII import then no problem. If you're prepared to write a program to interface the two products then it may be possible.
We use OI with Word extensively - in fact it is our preferred reporting tool as the OI Reporter is more than a little problematical. We have written complex reports called from OI that transparently run Word Macros which in turn run Excel Macros to create 40 page documents with full colour graphs and Pie Charts in the language of the current user! So it is very feasible to do this.
Perhaps we can address specific queries more easily?
