What are the possible reasons why the REDUCE subroutine in AREV would fail and return a flag of 0? When this happens rebooting the system will correct it temporarily. I've been told that this is due to a memory issue or error. Are there any ways to prevent it from happening?

Generally a failure in REDUCE is either in the script or a memory issue. To check memory, press the F5 key and type WHO. You should have 330,000 bytes of conventional memory (Arev 3.1x). Much less than 300,000 will probably cause errors or sporadic execution. Expanded Memory should read Active. Go to the 3rd page and see how much EMS is assigned (if it's active on the first page). You should have about 4mb assigned. If it's about 2mb and you allocated 4096 in the shortcut, then you need to start AREV with the /M4096 switch. Also using the X parameter will help. A typical command line ought to be AREV yourapp/XM4096 for best results.
