The system editor no longer "searches" properly. If the search string in visible on the screen, it is highlighted in blue. Othrwise, nothing moves, although a down-arrow briefly flashes where the "next" search string find is located.

In addition, when doing an RDK deployment, the first selection (Open Repository View) works from the File menu. After any changes have been saved, the File menu no longer works. The only way to get there is via the folder button or exiting with the "X" box and then restarting. OS is Win98-SE.

I'm all but certain that a registry setting has gotten whacked.

Has anybody encountered this? Any suggested fix?

This has traditionally been associated with 'new improved mouse drivers' or wheel mouse drivers. Does this ring any bells?

Don,

On a serious note, have you tried swapping keyboard / mouse hardware?

I've done the following:

1. Installed a new mouse (PS-2) style

2. Replaced Keyboard - Microsoft mfg.

3. Re-installed Win-98 and all patches

4. Re-installed IE-6.0 (after first testing with IE 5.5 which gives the same problem).

BTW, this sometimes happens on another machine as well. Just not as predictably.
