Has anyone used OIPI to send a print job to a plotter?

I have an application in AREV that prints the sections of metal bends, cones or tees on a dot matrix printer using 15" fanfold paper. These patterns can be upto several meters long. Converting this to OIPI has meant that I must use a windows printer driver. Even with a generic printer driver the patterns size is incorrect and skips over perforations etc.

Is there a solution where I can emulate a dos printer in OI or should I be considering using a plotter with continuous paper. Dot matrix printers are also getting more difficult to purchase.

TIA

Chris

Chris,

If you have solid AREV code for printing to a plotter then you may want to consider Splaver Software's Direct Print product. This is the original author of the OIPI who created another utility that allows OI applications to print directly to the port without going through the Window's Print Manager. Thus, your AREV PRINT code can virtually drop in and work exactly the same as it did before. Keep in mind, however, you will not get an preview or other OIPI features. However, doesn't sound like you will need them in this situation.
