I was talking to a friend last night about many things. One of the things he mentioned was that he has a complex Excel spreadsheet with about 40+ columns and 80+ rows. Each staff completed this spreadsheet recording their skills, experience, who knows what. He mentioned that he wanted to use FileMaker Pro. I'm not familar with it.
Any case, I have a general question: does anyone here has any experience or comments about FileMaker. I went to their website this AM and it looked great, but then what do you expect it's owed by Apple.
Does anyone have an opinion on how well Filemake works as a database? Just curious.
Thanks!

I last worked with it in 1995 or so. Has serious limitations - you can't import or export stuff readily. The OS interactions were limited (as Apple intended). It's a toy. Lousy on PCs too. You'd be better off setting up similar screens on an OI based web app.

Hey Steve,
1995? That's a long tme ago. Any case I don't doubt that OI might be better, but people sometime fall under the spell of beauty and glitz. I may approach my friend again later after the "in love" feeling has subsided and see if OI might not be more appropriate for real database.
Thanks for your response and hope all is well.
