SYS1000 Revloadrec error (OpenInsight 16-Bit Specific)

I have a site where one machine is getting crashing in OI with 'SYS1000 error Unable to load Rev_loadrec'. We have had this problem several times before, and in those cases it has been traced to a bad network card or heavy traffic. We have replaced the machine with a different machine and network card and this does not appear to be the cause. The machine connects to a 100Mbit switch, which connects to a 1Gbit backbone to the server. The network usage does not seem particularly heavy. What else should we be looking for?
It is a Win NT workstation, with a Win 2000 server running the NT Service. We're using OI 3.7.0. There's a maximum of 10 users using the application at any one time.
Any suggestions?

Paul,
Is this the only machine in this location or are there others and if there are others, are they connecting through the same switch?

It's a 24 port switch with 10 users connected to it. None of the other users have had the problem, but this particular user is probably the heaviest user of the system - doing heaps of OI and opening lots of files.

Hi Paul
I also have seen this problem before and it also was traced to hardware problems. If you have replaced the machine, then perhaps you should check the cable to this machine. I know Computer Harmony in Tauranga have a piece of equipment which is able to assess the quality of the cable, switch, network etc and pinpoint where the error is occuring. Does the network cable get too close to a power cable?
Otherwise, perhaps you can try plugging it into a different socket on the switch or perhaps trying a different switch.
Either way, my suggestion would be to keep looking for the problem in the hardware.
Best of Luck.

Paul,
I concur with what Robert has already said, and my suspicion would be the cable. Just to confirm if the problem is hardware or user related, get the affected user to switch seats with someone that isn't affected. If the same user is affected it is something to do with either his login or the processes he's running.
Of course, it could be something completely different…

This may mean that the connection to the network was dropped. Also, this will happen when the system looses access to the SYSOBJ file, either through an engine crash or network connection error. May be caused by the network being under severe strain when the OI is trying to get to the server.
Recommendation: rebuild System Indexes!

An update on the problem. We're getting it most days. All the users on this section of the network get the problem, which makes it seem like a network error.
We've tried replacing one of the machines, including network card. We've tried swapping around the ports the users connect to.
We've tried replacing the switch with another 100Mbit switch. No luck.
I read one message from Cameron Purdy saying these was a garbagecollect error in 3.7.0 (the version we're on), so this is one of the few remaining possibilities.
Any other ideas?
Thanks,
Paul

Realize that this is an old thread (and an old subject) - but since most of the discussion on the cause of this error is centered around networking or hardware, I thought I'd share what I just found.
This happened to me with an unassigned variable when I was trying to lock a record (the unassigned variable being the record key). I would suspect that similar errors might occur with other similar processes (like read, write, etc.).
